Sister Missionaries or Exterminators - September 27th 2021
Allô allô amazing people!
As always this week was packed with experiences, I never fully grasped how much happens on a mission but it's insane! I am loving it here so much. I've gotten to know the members a lot more and I have so much love for them! Our little branch is so precious! A little update on what's going on in my mission right now, we have been getting floods of missionaries. Since the borders opened to US missionaries, we have had a transfer every week. It's so crazy. I am so lucky to still be with Sœur Gibb! The mission office has been so busy finding and getting apartments ready for all these missionaries. My mission is the largest geographical mission in the world, and it's so exciting to see areas that were once closed opening back up! We have been covering an area in New Brunswick/Maine, but just this week it was given to the Elders:( it's really exciting because the members will finally get to meet the missionaries in person, but it was a sad day for us. They are such amazing people I'm going to miss them! Covid has been really hard for them because half the branch is in Canada, half is in the USA so they have been on zoom ever since the borders closed. I learned so much from them and am so grateful I had the opportunity to meet them! Here in Lévis, we now have 3 teams in our branch, 6 missionaries!!! It's absolutely wild. I feel such an urgency and motivation for this work, we know there are people here that have been prepared to hear the gospel!
Now for my subject line, this week we had a crazy experience. We got back to our apartment one night after being outside all day. We were setting things up to have a zoom lesson with our friend who we are teaching French, kind of funny because I hardly know any French myself but it's fun! We started hearing noises from the corner and investigating it a bit more, we came to realize it was a bat. An actual bat in our apartment. For some reason, there was a pitcher behind the couch and the bat was just chilling in there. After panicing for a minute, we decided we didn't need the elders help and we're able to trap it and let it loose on our balcony. I'm so proud of myself actually, and now I'm going to have no problem killing spiders! If only you could see me now dad, you'd be so proud haha! We have no idea how it got in or how long it was there, but we're just not going to think too much about it. Thank goodness that pitcher was there, I don't know how we would've gotten it out otherwise. In the process of running away after slamming the door shut, I tripped over our table and broke our cute plant pot. Triste nation. After that our neighbors came up to check on us after hearing all the ruckus, it was so kind of them. Sœur Gibb and I haven't stopped laughing about it!
Lastly, I just wanted to share a bit more about what happened on Saturday, we were talking to this guy at a park and he was asking us questions about our church. He asked who the leader of our church was, if we had a pope or someone else, and it was such a cool experience to explain to him that our church is led by Jesus Christ. This is His church restored on the earth. We have a living prophet today who receives revelation for the church, and we ourselves can receive guidance directly from our Savior. It was such a powerful experience for me to testify that Christ lives, and His church is living today! We invited him to watch general conference and listen for himself to feel the peace and direction that comes from Christ. I am so excited for general conference! It really is such a special experience we have to listen to Christ's prophet and apostles speak to us. I want to invite all of you to tune in to general conference on saturday or sunday, I know that when we listen with intent the spirit speaks to us. The sessions are 10am 2pm and 6pm on saturday, and 10am and 2pm (MST) on sunday. And invite everyone you know to listen! I will try to post a link in this email!
I hope you all have an amazing week! JE VOUS AIME!
