Cheerful Obedience - July 31, 2021

 Bonjour tout le monde!!

I hope you all had an amazing week! The home MTC is the best because I am still able to spend a little bit of time with my friends and family. That has been such a blessing!

This week we started full french immersion classes. It's been hard but I have already learned so much french in these past couple days. My teachers are amazing at helping us understand their questions. Honestly it's a miracle that I am understanding as much as I am (which isn't a ton haha), but I know God will continue to help me learn this language as I work for it! My mom took a bit of french in highschool and has been using it all the time at home, so that's been super fun for me! I'm never sure if she's saying an actual french word, or just using a french accent when she speaks english! Either way I love it!

My companion and I taught our first lesson in french this week. AHHHH. It was crazy. I definitely wasn't ready to have a full on conversation in french, let alone teach a gospel lesson! But she was soooo kind and helpful. And I know the more I use it the more comfortable I will get with it! It can only get better from here, right?! At least that's what we're hoping for!

I had a devotional this week about faith and obedience. Every week we get to watch a recorded devotional from one of the general authorities. Elder and Sister Soares spoke to us about how we can show our love to God through obedience and our desire to follow Him. It helped me to look at obedience in a different way. When we have faith, we will naturally want to follow Jesus Christ. My favorite quote from this devotional was,
"Personal righteousness can only be achieved by cheerful obedience. ... Obedience allows God's blessings to flow without restraints."
SO GOOD. I'm excited to find ways that I can be more cheerfully obedient as I strive to follow Christ.

I love you all. God loves you. And He's proud of you. Have a blessed week friends.
