BEST WEEK EVER part 2 - Saturday July 24, 2021
Bonjour everyone!
This week was another amazing week. I am just blown away by everything that happened. I saw so many miracles, and my heart is so full. I hope in these weekly emails I am able to help even just one of you through sharing my experiences and the things that have helped me most. One of my teachers described this training experience by saying, "the days are like weeks, and the weeks are like days." Nothing could be more true. I feel like I learn soooo much every single day about Jesus Christ and this gospel, but it's so hard to believe I've been a missionary for 2 weeks! I love being a missionary so much. I never knew I could feel the spirit so strong through zoom, talking with people I've only known for a few short weeks. I love it so much.
My district is so much fun. We have gotten so close and I've laughed so hard this week. Almost all the missionaries in my district are from the USA. Half of them are serving in Montreal with me so I am so excited about that. This week one of the Elders showed us his "american" maple syrup. It was bright blue, captain crunch maple syrup. He said he would take a shot of it every day until he got to Canada! I thought you would all laugh at that!! My companion, Soeur Winterton, is the best. We are so similar, it blows my mind. GET THIS. We have the same taste in music and we went to the same concert a few years ago, just in different places. What are the odds?! That made me so happy. There are countless other things, it would take me too long to describe, but she is SO great. Comp study is one of my favorite parts of each day. I'm so grateful God let me meet her and become such good friends with her! Having her as my companion has been a miracle in itself. Next week we are starting french immersion, which I know will be hard but I am so excited!
My very favorite scripture verses from this week were Alma 5:14, 26.
14 And now behold, I ask you, my brethren of the church, have ye spiritually been born of God? Have ye received his image in your countenances? Have ye experienced this mighty change in your hearts?
26 And now behold, I say unto you, my brethren, if ye have experienced a change of heart, and if ye have felt to sing the song of redeeming love, I would ask, can ye feel so now?
These scriptures hit me hard. I am so grateful for the gift of repentance we have been given and the opportunity we have to become closer to Christ each day. I love how through the Atonement of Jesus Christ, we can change. We can receive His image in our countenances. We can reflect Him in how we live our lives. And that power will always be available to us! I just love that so much.
I also want to share about the experience I had this week. We have these things called TRC's, and that's basically where we get to call someone and give them a message about what we have been learning. I was so scared for these lessons, but they turned out to be the best part of my week. Soeur Winterton and I taught this girl named Malory, and she is so awesome. We connected so well, I want to be best friends with her in real life. I am so grateful we were able to teach her. Being in the home-MTC has been amazing, but I haven't had many opportunities to teach people besides my family. I loved sharing my love for this gospel with her. Meeting with her reminded me why I chose to serve a mission. There is no better feeling than knowing you are an instrument in God's hands. We were able to share with her about her purpose, and why God created her. I don't know if she is a member of the church or not, but regardless, I was able to feel God's love for her. And hopefully she was able to feel that love as well. The spirit in those lessons was so strong, and we were definitely led by the spirit which was so cool. It was so humbling. I know that if you look for opportunities, God will use you to do His work. I love this work with all my heart.
